Making of the Computer Graphics for Star Wars

Star Wars is being re-released in 3D starting with Episode I The Phantom Menace on February 10th. I was looking on YouTube for a featurette that would explain the making of the conversion of the two dimensional film into 3D but I found out something even better.

This video explains how they made the computer animated graphics of the Death Star as seen on the original  Star Wars from 1977. The work was done by Larry Cuba in the 70s at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) (at the time known as the Circle Graphics Habitat) at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
