SŌ TEN'NENSHOKU AKIRA by Katsuhiro Otomo

On December 2003 SŌ TEN'NENSHOKU AKIRA  (総天然色) was published by Kodansha in Japan. This version is a new edition of the previous International Version of AKIRA Colored by Steve Oliff that was also released in Japan by Kodansha from October 1988 to August 1996 in 12 slipcase sets, with English text and a booklet with Japanese translations. This new edition of six volumes was translated back from English to Japanese. Many changes were introduced in the dialogues and the sound effects have been translated too.

I just ordered the first two volumes of this new edition from Amazon japan Marketplace. Each book comes with a transparent plastic slipcase that make them look great but the retail price around $40 for each book is pretty high.

The six volumes available are available in Amazon Japan. In Spain a box set collecting the six volumes and AKIRA CLUB was published available in Amazon Spain. The previous International version is already out of stock but can be find it as second hand books in Amazon Japan Marketplace. In US and Europe the  colored version was first published in 38 issues that later got collected as 14 hardcover books, with the last two volumes mostly containing extra artwork and illustrations from the book  Akira Club.

DESIGN | Plaza Ecopolis model desing for EU

This last month we have been working on a model design for Ecosistema Urbano architecture office in Madrid, Spain. The working model was used during the building’s development phase. The main project aimed to regenerate a plot on the outskirts of Madrid, a place surrounded by transport infrastructure that was adjacent to an industrial estate, into a public space for social interaction providing a building for childcare.
My summer Internship in Ecosistema Urbano Architects Office is over. I have been in charge of the model making for this project called PLAZA ECOPOLIS,  a building that is already being build! To know more about it visit the EU blog and Arquitecturaldia

DESIGN | SIKA 2009

This days we have teamed up with Laura Currais, Pablo Muñoz for this years SIKA contest. After an intense brainstorming we decided that building a transatlantic was the most realistic but also satiric way to answer to the brief about building a complex in Caiman island so that politicians all over the world can meet and solve the world economic crisis that is hitting so hard these days.

We didn't have much time so we just take this amazing drawing by Stephen Biesty from the book Incredible Cross-Sections just as it is and we added some details here and there. If we had won we would have sent a check to Mr. Biesty.

DESIGN | Ecosistema Urbano

We have teamed up with Iñigo Cornago to work on an audiovisual project for Ecosistema Urbano architecture office's upcoming exhibition at the 2nd Biennial of the Canary Islands about Architecture, Art and Landscape. We have collected ten videos created by the office over the course of ten years and remastered them with  brand new  introductions and menus into a beautiful DVD disc.

The exposition will held from the March 5th to the May 3rd in the Canary islands. More info about the Biennial here.
