BOOK - True Color AKIRA by Otomo

On December 2003 TRUE COLOR AKIRA was released by Kodansha in Japan. This version is a new edition of the previous International Version of AKIRA Colored by Steve Oliff that was also released in Japan by Kodansha in 12 hardcover volumes with english text and a booklet with japanese translations. This TRUE COLOR AKIRA has the same color but the japanese text even many changes are introduced in the dialogues and the onomatopoeias have been transcripted too. Here a comparison of the Japanese international version published by Kodansha from October 1988 to august 1996 and the new True Color edition published between 2003 and 2004.

I just ordered two volumes of this new TRUE COLOR edition from aa total of six books, just like the B/W  original version. Each book comes with a transparent plastic slipcase that make them look great. The retail price around $40 for each book is pretty high so I  hope I to find them cheap on a second hand marketplace.

The six volumes available in Amazon Japan. And in a box set on Spanish in Amazon Spain.

The old International version is already out of stock but can be found in Amazon Japan Marketplace.

In Europe and USA a total of 13 volumes where released with the last extra volume containing artwork from Akira Club.

I have been in charge of the model making for this project called PLAZA ECOPOLIS.

To know more about  it visit the EU blog and Arquitecturaldia

Here some more photographs I did to the final model:

SIKA contest 2009

This days we have been working together Laura Currais, Pablo Muñoz and me for this years SIKA contest. After an intense brainstorming we decided that building a transatlantic was the most realistic but also satiric way to answer to the brief about building a complex in Caiman island so that politicians all over the world can meet and solve the world economic crisis that is hitting so hard.
We didn't have much time so we just take this amazing drawing by Stephen Biesty from the book Incredible Cross-Sections and riped it out. If we had won we would send Stephen a check. But that didn't happen.

DVD - Ecosistema Urbano

Iñigo Cornago and I have been working this days on an audiovisual project for Ecosistema Urbano Exposition at  II Biennial of the Canary Islands about Architecture, Art and Landscape. We have compile and mastered ten videos from the last years by the EU Office and authored them in a beautiful DVD disc. Here the menu and some pics of the introduction motion graphics we did to each video.

The exposition will held from the 5th March to the 3rd May. So if you are in Canary islands don't miss it.
