Satoshi Kon (今 敏) passed away nine years ago today at the age of just 46. It's amazing how much a human being can accomplish in such a short period of time with enough focus and determination. Kon started his career as an assistant to manga masters such as Katsuhiro Otomo and he rapidly became a master manga-ka himself, from there he jumped to animation, where he spent the last 15 years of his career, becoming one of the most memorable Japanese film directors of all time.
I had the chance to met him in Animadrid back in year 2006 and I was lucky to get his signature on one of his many books I own, here a list of all the books I have found in their original Japanese editions, for international editions read the final note.
MANGA WORKS
As it is common in Japan, Satoshi Kon's manga works were usually first published and serialized in manga magazines before being collected in books, which are the ones that endure the passage of time and can be achieved more easily these days.
ワールドアパートメントホラー ( World Apartment Horror)
Illustrated by Satoshi Kon upon an original story by him, Keiko Nobumoto (小川 寿夫) and Katsuhiro Otomo (大友 克洋). This book collects WORLD APARTMENT HORROR a story originally published in five parts in Kodansha's Young Magazine as well as other three short stories by Kon that were later collected in the book Yume no Kaseki.

Most of Satoshi Kon's comics and films have been translated to multiple languages all around the world, ask your local comic book store for availability or check this links on Amazon:
We've just discovered and became members of NextFab: A network of membership-based maker spaces that provide access to tools, technology, education, events, and services for makers of any skill level.
They are set in three locations: North Philly, South Philly and Wilmington and we are already overwhelmed by the tools and the environment they provide for makers of all kinds. The first day we took a wood shop safety class and end up making a cheese board, we named it Cheesy-Fishy.
In our last visit to London, we had the opportunity to visit the recently established Japan House where a great exhibition is taking place from June 5th to July 28th: THIS IS MANGA THE ART OF URASAWA NAOKI. A retrospective of Urasawa's career, from his first drawings when he was four years old to his latest manga works. The visitor gets an inside look at the creative process of the artists, as his manuscripts are show in the many stages they have to go by, before being published. From idea, to sketch, penciling, inking, applying screen-tones and coloring.
It's not common for the general public to have a chance to see an original manga manuscript in person, Japanese artist generally don't sell their manuscripts to individual collectors the way comic book artist do in the US, so the only place to be able to see them is in a museum when an exhibition of this kind takes place. The thing is that even those kind of events are somehow common in Japan, they usually don't leave the country. This time not only the exhibition but the artist visited London the week the exhibition opened and special evening took place presented by Wired UK in which Urasawa talked with Matt Kamen and then played the guitar and sang songs composed by himself.
Luckily, this summer, not only one, but two major Manga exhibitions of this kind took place in London. Apart from Urasawa's aforementioned solo exhibition, the British Museum organized THE CITI EXHIBITION: MANGAマンガ that runs form May 23rd to August 26th, 2019. The manuscripts on display in this one comprehend a selection of the biggest names in the industry, starting with Urasawa himself and continuing with world renown manga artists such as Katsuhiro Otomo and Akira Toriyama among many others.
Both exhibitions where accompanied by great catalogs. Urasawa's exhibition was previously held in Japan a couple of years ago and the catalog is only in Japanese while the British museum exhibition's catalog is in English.

Demand for cloud computing from providers like Amazon Web Services continues to rise from both companies and consumers that rely on remote storage and computing power accessible from anywhere. While other tech giants Google, Microsoft, and IBM are vying to be the go-to providers, Amazon remains the undisputed leader in cloud computing.
Amazon Web Services is behind much of the technology we use every day, from streaming your favorite shows on Netflix to calling a car from Lyft. AWS has been one of Amazon’s most profitable business endeavors as companies abandon their own data centers for Amazon Web Services. Amazon said it has more 4,000 government contracts as well.
But moving data from local servers to the AWS cloud servers can be a challenge. Amazondeveloped physical and rugged products called the Snowball and the Snowmobile to help companies transfer data to the cloud. CNBC got a rare inside look at how Amazon Web Services transfers a large amount of data to the cloud.
